Not Your Nest

by Gideon Sterer with pictures by Andrea Tsurumi

Children's Books - Not Your Nest by Gideon Sterer

George is loving this book right now.  Our poor little bird keeps building a nest for herself and each time she goes to rest, another animal has stolen it!  From a gorilla to a giraffe to a whole colony of meerkats – poor bird just keeps losing her nest!  How will she get the animals out of the tree?  With the help of a charging water buffalo obviously.

What happens next is sweet and all about sharing and thinking of others.  It’s funny with superb illustrations.

Hooray For Birds!

by Lucy Cousins

Children's Books - Hooray For Birds! by Lucy Cousins

This is my daughter’s pick.  She absolutely adores Lucy Cousins’ bright illustrations and the fun, simple rhyming text.  We have both the fish and the bird edition – similar rhymes and funny text.

The stand out with this one is that you get so make the bird sounds which kids love.

Birds

by Carme Lemniscates

Children's Books - Birds by Carme Lemniscates

Similar to Cousins book, this book explores all the different types of birds.  Some are big, some are tiny, etc.

I love how poetic this one is – especially near the end when she compares birds to thoughts that stay for a while and then fly away.  I also really love the simple illustrations.

Hope you enjoy these picks! And as always,

Happy Reading,
