I think we are coming to the end of winter, but lets get real, in Toronto spring doesn’t truly make an appearance until mid April at least!
Which means we still have quite a few weeks of indoor play (and to be fair, when summer hits and you need to escape the high UV, indoor playgrounds are a must).
For some unknown reason, it has taken me quite a while to discover this nearby place on the Danforth.
And it’s AWESOME!

We drive and find plenty of street parking.

Why We Like it:
The nicest woman (and mom), Irene, owns this play centre. She’s always so welcoming and happy to see us.
Jump For Joy is in a storefront on the Danforth – meaning it is narrow but long.
Somehow, Irene manages to fit in a small play structure complete with ball pit, bouncy castle and a plethora of fun activity toys like a hot dog truck, a playhouse and a kitchen complete with a BBQ.
Here is the craziest thing of all: it’s SPOTLESS.
Like insanely immaculate with all of those toys and balls. I have no idea how she does it!
While there isn’t a ton of running around room, both my kids (ages 4 and 2) get a fantastic and exhausting play in here.
If you have a baby, there is a great baby area at the back of the play space complete with a small ball pit, a mirror for them to giggle at and lots of baby-friendly toys.
At the very back is a small kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea (actually it’s $1 donated to SickKids Foundation), a fridge for you to store your food, and a microwave. There are water and coffee mugs with lids for you to use.
A charging station is set up for your phones or laptops.
It does get warm here, so make sure to have layers you can remove. You will forget it’s -20 outside!
Surface:
Laminate with plenty of area rugs. Very warm on socked feet!
Bathrooms:
Two bathrooms with changing tables and a teeny tiny toilet for your little people.
BONUS:
Parent Relief Program. You must arrange ahead but you can drop your children off for a minimum of 1 hour and a max of 3 hours while you run errands, etc. The cost is $20/hour with siblings being half price.
WHERE TO GET COFFEE?
Although there is coffee and tea in the kitchen, it’s still fun to explore a new coffee shop right?
This bright and pretty café serves up strong coffee as well Venezuelan sandwiches that are called arepas.
Arepas are made out of cornmeal and stuffed with slow cooked pork, chicken, or, my favourite, the breakfast one with eggs and chorizo.
They also have amazing smoothies. My particular favourite is the El Dorado. SO GOOD.

Delicious pastries? Double check! Especially the coffee cake and banana chocolate muffins.

Across the street and on the corner is this French bakery.
They have good cappuccino and lattés (but the drip coffee is only okay) and absolutely scrummy baked goods.
Definitely come here for a croissant or an adorable patisserie. I also love their quiche and salads.
I highly encourage you to venture to Jump for Joy – it’s great and my kids love it. And I love the food nearby!
