It’s very hard being a farmer. It’s especially hard when you are feeding a farm of giant brontosauruses. Urm, brontosauri? Or cleaning the poop of the triceratops.
This is a fun book if you have a dinosaur lover in your house. George loved all the crazy things the farmer has to do with all his dinosaurs.
Why I like it:
Anytime you put farms and dinosaurs together it’s a win in my house.
I grabbed this book at the library based on the brightly illustrated cover and the obvious fact that it showcases a different culture.
In this book, brother and sister, Fatima and Galo, help load their dad’s, Big Ali, bus with passenger luggage and go on an adventure to Bobo Road. It takes place in Burkina Faso, which I am ashamed to say, I had no idea where that was. So if you are like me and don’t know: it’s in West Africa between Mali and Ghana.
So many fun things for kids to see in this book – although I did have a hard time pronouncing some of the places. They go past hippo lake full of flamingos and hippos. Past the Grande Mosque and a place called Caterpillar Café. The luggage that gets loaded is pretty unique: mopeds, cooking oil, sacks of rice, and even ducks! When they finally reach Bobo Road – a yummy meal awaits the siblings and they celebrate their day.
Why I like it:
I’m always searching for books about different cultures and this is a fun find because it’s a new culture to me too!
We love Cars Galore in our house so I was really excited to see this similar version with trucks.
Both my kids are very into trucks. So if you have a truck lover – this book is for you. With bright and fun illustrations we meet thin trucks, hot trucks, shake-the-road trucks, moo trucks, baa trucks and silly SMASH trucks. Every type of truck you can imagine is in this book. So much fun – even if you are not a truck person!
Why I like it
As I stated above, I love Cars Galore and this is the same. It’s one of those books that is so simple and yet written so very very cleverly.
Hope you enjoy these picks! And as always,
Happy Reading,
